Kaj Thompson Statement on MPA Endorsement
Recently a friend alerted me that I appeared as a candidate endorsed by a group called the Minnesota Parents Alliance (MPA). I haven't asked for any endorsements nor do I plan to. My three priorities for this district have remained consistent since I filed to run: focus on academics, the budget & enrollment, and school safety. I don't want any endorsements to distract me from that focus, so today (9-28-23) I asked the MPA to rescind their endorsement.
Kaj Thompson Registering as a Candidate for Hopkins School Board
Hopkins, MN August 12, 2023 – Kaj Thompson, a father of three children all enrolled in the
Hopkins District 270 School District, officially launched his campaign for school board by registering as a candidate at the Eisenhower Community Center. He was accompanied by his eldest daughter, Mya, an incoming 8th grader at North Junior High. “My number one priority is to re-prioritize academics for all of our schools,” said Thompson, who has grown concerned by a decades-long decline in academic proficiency within the Hopkins district, once regarded as one of the best in the country. “I believe that all students should be encouraged to be high-achievers in the classroom and that schools have the responsibility to provide a curriculum for those that seek opportunities to maximize their learning potential.”
